Homelessness in Malaysia: another dose of reality
Recently, on this blog, I shared some photographic evidence (you can see it here) that there are homeless here in Kuala Lumpur. Here's another. I shot them in the wee hours of last Saturday, during food distribution to the homeless organized by Reach Org.
So much for Malaysians being a caring society
If you are Malaysians, I believe, sometimes ago, you have watched a TV commercial that featured a lad pulling of various tricks to deny a pregnant woman and make sure he remains seated on LRT. (By the way, if you can't recall, it starred Adlin Aman Ramlie of "Puteri Gunung Ledang" and "Akademi Fantasia" fame and written by Malaysian super-storyteller, ad-genius the late
Homelessness in Kuala Lumpur. A reality.
Recently, I joined a group of friends, which include Pete from Reach Org as well as the CEO and Executive Chairman of 1901, visiting places where KL homeless and poor sleep at night, based on the information we gathered from friends (ones we serve during Food for the Homeless session).
Among things we saw: there were a total of at least 300 people slept at various spots we visited that night. Many them are old. Only 60% at most, are familiar faces from our Food for the Homeless run.People say, a picture tells a thousand words. So I took some photos.
