I have been keeping an online journal since January 2009 about taking care of my mom, who has Alzheimer's disease. I didn't see many similar options online that describe the various odd behaviors caregivers might encounter while looking after a loved one with Alzheimer's. Sometimes, Mom’s behavior is upsetting. And emotions under these circumstances can run high. But there’s also lots of humor. And mostly, the unexpected is the norm.
Mom was diagnosed in November 2005 and moved into assisted living in October 2007. I am the youngest of her three children and the only one in town; she has a daughter in California and a son in New York. Together, we have three half-siblings as well from our dad's second marriage. Our parents divorced in about 1970 and Mom never remarried.
