Blog Name: A Byzantine Christian in a Postmodern World
Url: http://byzantinechristian.blogspot.com/
Language: English
Topics: Eastern Christianity, Eastern Churches, Orthodoxy
Description: I am a Byzantine Catholic Christian. Byzantine Catholics share the faith, worship, and spirituality of Eastern Orthodoxy, and we are in the Catholic Communion of Churches in union with the Pope of Rome. One of the most salient teachings of the Byzantine Church is the doctrine of Theosis, or divinization. We can become by grace what God is by nature (2 Peter 1.4). In the incarnation, Christ not only assumed our humanity but divinized it. Christ provides the way for us to become like God (John 17.21,22), a process that begins in this life, and continues into the next. On this blog, I seek to find the relationships between absolute truth and postmodern culture; between ancient faith and contemporary challenges; between orthodoxy and orthopraxis; all from the perspective of a Byzantine Christian. I believe Byzantine Spirituality can offer answers for the postmodern seeker of spirit and truth.
