A few cautious runs
I’m not even going to recap last week, it was so pathetic. I had only one run. It was Saturday. It was 3.5 miles and it was encouraging. I ran it with a knee brace and things went well until about 1.5 miles when I felt a little tightness in my left knee. It wasn’t pain. Just tightness. So, I stretched and removed the knee brace for about a half mile. Nothing got much worse, so I put the knee brace back on and finished off the run.
I took Sunday off.
Monday, I went out for a 4 mile run with the knee brace in my hand. I made it the whole way, though some tightness set in at around 2 miles. On Tuesday, I headed out with Richie. We went about 4.5 miles at
Running Recap: Week of 11/02/2009 - 11/08/2009
Last week, I said that I was looking for consistency. This isn’t exactly what I meant. Monday started off well and I even felt pretty good going into my quality workout on Tuesday, but then things began to unravel. During my 3rd of 5 1200 m intervals, I started to feel that distinct pulling on top of my kneecap that signifies the onset of a bout of runner’s knee. Otherwise, I felt great, though. I was killing the intervals. I finished the 3rd interval, walked for a minute and the pain went away. So, I jumped right into the 4th interval. The pain came back. I finished the interval and walked for a minute. The pain more or less went away. I flew into the 5th interval
Running Recap: Week of 10/26/2009 - 11/01/2009
This week was a pretty down week. I had planned it that way, but as things turned out, it was much worse than expected. I don’t have a great reason for that. I had written off the weekend as part of the plan because I was supposed to be heavily involved in the roasting of a whole pig for Halloween. Given the potential time commitment there and the potential for alcohol consumption during the process, I planned to give myself the whole weekend off. Thursday ended up being an off day too since I had a meeting in the morning and Alice had an early cross country meet (she won by over a minute, ending the JV season. She’s on to varsity for the district meet this week). Frid
Running Across Florida
A few weeks ago, I was impressed by Lindsay’s ability to agree to run on a relay team with a bunch of people she didn’t know.
“That crazy Lindsay,” I thought. “I certainly wouldn’t do that!”
Unfortunately, Lindsay got sick and was unable to run the relay. I had been looking forward to the report of her zany adventure and so I was saddened that I wouldn’t be able to live vicariously through her.
As luck would have it, I received notification through a Faceb
A Quality run at last
I haven’t really run fast since the Race for the Taste 10K. I haven’t felt too bad about that. I thought it was a good race and I had some injury stuff to work through and heck that marathon is a whole 17 weeks away.
I did 7 miles with Richie yesterday and felt pretty good, though my cardio fitness seemed a little off. After 5 days cold turkey with little to no exercise, I just wrote it off to rust. The foot held up well and that was the important part. During the day at work, I started to feel the beginnings of the tendinitis, but it was hard to tell if it was really coming back or if I was just thinking about it too much. I decided to be overly cautious and ski
