Mothers to the Others: Two Inspirational Stories
You often read or watch sensationalistic news programs discuss mothers gone bad who end up doing horrible things to their children. Recently I've paid attention to just the opposite... mom's who react out of tender loving care through difficult circumstances. Here are two examples: Two things caught my attention over this past week. Days ago Bailey, a father of a three year old child, had the doors of the subway train close on him with his child stranded on the platform. Photos From Trans Awareness Week
Last week Tucson celebrated Transgender Awareness Week. I was only able to make it to one of the events that week. On Thursday Arizona attorney Abigail Jensen spoke at the University of Arizona about issues concerning trans men and women, especially surrounding employment discrimination and health concerns. Her two hour presentation included a question and answer session from those in attendance. It proved to be an educational time for many, and I got to see a wonderful personal friend of mine again, if only for an evening. I'm glad I went. It was so worth it. The last hour at Magpies was worth the price of admission! Thanks, Abby!
