Devils win shootout in Boston, lose Clarkson to injury
It seems as if after almost every Devils game these days I’m lamenting how the Devils lose a key player while winning and yesterday afternoon was no different. This time, it would be David Clarkson who left the game early in the first period after taking a Zdeno Chara slapshot on the ankle where no padding could cushion the blow from one of Chara’s 100 MPH lasers. After having to crawl to the bench Clarkson would not return and coach Jacques Lemaire sounded pessimistic in the postgame on Clarkson’s chances of coming back anytime soon. While there’s no official word on the extent of Clarkson’s inj
No Crown Fit For This King
Okay. So, it’s not the Rangers night. That much was obvious early with the Lightning scoring twice and continuing to dominate a game that’s now 4-zip. Too much Steven Stamkos and Marty St. Louis. Andrej Meszaros also made a great defensive play to deny Marian Gaborik a breakaway. And no. That wasn’t a penalty.
If Artem Anisimov had bad luck on the high stick which Victor Hedman held that led to a power play goal from Steve Downie, then that wasn’t the case with Ales Kotalik, whose undisciplined minor running into Mi
Rangers-Lightning Preview
It’ll soon be the day after Thanksgiving which means plenty of puck all day, including the Devils in Beantown with a noon start and the Islanders hosting the Pens at 2 while Buffalo visits Philly in between. As for the Blueshirts, they’ll be where they were over the turkey, stuffing, string bean caserole, yams and cranberry sauce- down in southern Florida getting ready to face the Lightning at St. Pete Times Forum with faceoff at 7:30.
They’ll be coming in off a 2-1 skill competition win over Florida off the stick of new hero P.A. Parenteau, who bailed out our overrated goalie after he permitted a Dominic Moore beach ball that ha
Devils edge out Senators in Thanksgiving Eve thriller
For both teams last night’s game just before the holiday was important – while Ottawa would have remained in first with a win, the Devils just wanted to get off the schneid after going 0-2-1 on their recent road trip. Though it wasn’t pretty at times, the Devils’ 3-1 win was just what the doctor ordered, especially with Nicklas Bergfors and Patrik Elias both breaking out of scoring slumps with a goal apiece and Martin Brodeur turning in another strong performance with 24 saves.
During a middling first period, the Devils jumped out to a surprise lead against the run of play when the near-end boards (nea
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Today is a day to reflect and appreciate what we got. I’m thankful for family, friends, health and happiness. Plus of course this space which gives me the opportunity to talk puck. It’s always fun because it gives us something to do. Hockey can take our minds off stuff. No matter how things are going for your team on the ice, at the end of the day it’s a sport we enjoy with passion. Not everybody can go to games and live and die with their teams because for those less fortunate, it’s all about survival. Let’s remember that!
WISHING EVERYONE A HAPPY AND HEALTHY THANKSGIVING AKA TURKEY DAY
