Arby’s update
Considering that my office is about 2 blocks south of the Arby’s that’s slated to be built on U.S. 45/52 in Bourbonnais, I have an even larger than usual interest in where that project stands. I just spoke with Ed Miller, the franchisee who also owns the Bradley Arby’s, and he said, “We still own the ground; we still plan to build; we just don’t know when.” That means things haven’t changed since the last time I asked him about it in April. Darn!
FroYo Creations opening soon in Bourbonnais
FroYo Creations is expected to open within the next week or two at 509 N. Convent St. in Bourbonnais. Customers will be able to make their own frozen yogurt creations (thus the name), choosing from among six flavors of frozen yogurt and 36 different toppings. The end result is weighed and priced at 36¢ per ounce. Sweet treats with a healthy twist is the overall theme of the store’s offerings, which also will include smoothies, fresh fruit kabobs, granola bars, flavored coffees and hot chocolate, and frozen yogurt pies. The fresh fruit smoothies will be available in nine flavors and can be enhanced with one of eight boosters that add an even bigger good-for-you kick.
Reader recommendation: Tuscany Steak & Pasta

Locust. Their phone is (815) 468-9810.
A brief run for Dandy’s Pizza
A new Dandy’s Pizza sign appeared a few weeks ago on the building at the southwest corner of Station and Wall streets in Kankakee. I’ve heard that it was open for at least a short time, but the phone number on the sign has now been disconnected.
Best Bites print column (Nov. 5)
Here’s the Best Bites column that appears in today’s edition of The Daily Journal: A new Italian restaurant, Tucci’s, opened Monday. It’s at 1560 North Illinois Route 50 in Bradley, in a remodeled Armenise’s Eighteen 75. Owner Joe Armenise’s new concept focuses on casual, family-friendly dining. Signature stone-baked pizzas are a highlight of the menu, which also includes appetizers, sandwiches, pastas, chicken and fish, steaks, chops and veal. Choosing a first meal was hard, but I was very happy with my pizza choice. I tried the “Naples,” which had a delicious, crispy crust and was topped with Alfredo sau
