Commuting Casanovas: Part V: My New Morning Admirer
It's been a while since I had a commuting casanova worth writing about...Whenever I am short on time in the morning (read: one minute), I do not apply my lipstick at home. I do it for the bus. Because I know the exact minute I need to leave my apartment to catch my usual bus. And that one minute of lipstick application means the difference between getting to Grand Central on time or not.So about a month, ago, I was applying my bus on the lipstick one morning and out of the corner of my eye, I felt a man watching me. I heard him say to someone sitting next to him "She's so beautiful. I wish I could take a picture."I didn't want to
A super exciting moment in commuting!
Tonight when I got off the 7 Train in Vernon Jackson, as I headed towards the bus stop, I saw the B61 pull away from the light and head up the Pulaski Bridge towards Greenpoint. Dad Takes the Subway! (Part 1)
For years, my Dad has lived in the Bronx and worked in Manhattan. And for all of that time, he has been driving to work. Geographically, it's a very small distance, probably no more than 12 miles, but as anyone who has driven in Manhattan can attest - that can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 4 hours of stressful driving. As if that isn't fun enough, there's the parking. And the alternate side/street cleaning days/hours when he has to go outside to move his car temporarily (and move it back later). And the car being vandalized while being parked (sideview mirror knocked off, scraped and banged up by passing cars and parked cars). And once even being towe
