Fall Is Falling
I had to pop a couple of things in the mailbox last night and noticed that it smelled like it was going to snow outside. Back when I lived in Chicago and Denver, when I’d say something like that I’d see most heads nodding and maybe one or two people shaking their heads and rolling their eyes and claiming that a person couldn’t smell snow. But since moving to Smalbany, most people seem to think I’m nuts when I say that. What? People in New York can’t tell snow is coming by sniffing the air? Are you kidding me? I’ll bet the folks up in Buffalo and in western New York can smell snow!
Thankfully, when I got up this morning I didn’t
I’ve Been Cooking
NaBloMoPo Day 5
Since Sunday, I’ve cooked four different dishes from my new cookbook, 125 Best Vegetarian Slow Cooker Recipes by Judith Finlayson. Now, many people would not find this newsworthy at all. People cook… so what? Well, the big deal is that I absolutely hate to cook, and I can’t remember the last time I actually did any cooking that was more involved than cutting up vegetables for a salad or sandwich.
So which dishes did I make? Glad you asked!
Sweet Potatoes and Carrots with Chickpea Topping: pretty good, but a little bland for my taste. More sweet potato, less ca
Someone Is Flirting With Me!
NaBloPoMo Day 5
I don’t know who is flirting with me. And I haven’t actually noticed anyone flirting with me. But there have been people sending me emails several times a day for months now telling me that someone is flirting with me. They wouldn’t lie, would they?
Apparently, I’m so old that I can’t recognize flirting anymore. I’m about to fall into a deep funk of depression.
Um, or maybe I should stop reading the subject lines of the crap in my spam folder. Of course, there’s very little fun in that. Spammers may be the spawn of the Devil, but sometimes they’re kind of funny.
Working at the Grocery Store
NaBloPoMo Day 4
I don’t work in a grocery store. I never have. Undoubtedly, I am too sensible and incredibly overqualified. But I shop a lot, and I’ve noticed that the people who work in grocery stores don’t get very good training. It’s possible they’re shown how to use the scanner/cash register. Ok, I’d say it’s likely that they’re trained on that piece (those pieces?) of equipment.
But who teaches them how to bag groceries? You’d think something like that would just be common sense, but since most of the people who do that job don’t possess common sense, somebody needs to tea
Filing
NaBloPoMo Day 3
Whether it’s stuffing reams of paper into places where they can be easily found and retrieved, or it’s putting electronic files on a hard drive or external media in some sort of logical order, we’re never going to get away from the concept of filing. And for a person like me, who breaks out in hives at the thought of filing… well, that just pretty much sucks.
I recently finished going through two crates of papers in an attempt to find some specific papers my realtor wants. Most of it should be shredded. (You can’t just throw old papers away anymore, people! The devil will steal your soul! Um,
