Description: Ever been to Italy and wondered where the souped-up cars got to? Or why you can’t get a “supreme” pizza around these parts? And not every trattoria has a red and white check table cloth, there are no ubiquitous tomato plants strewn across the gardens of the country and you certainly don’t rinse pasta after straining it from the saucepan. Italy has given so much to the world; it has exported its people and culture, and become famous for its chaos, its “sweet life”, its beautiful countryside and its chequered past. So what is the essence of this varied country with its distinctive shape? What makes us shake our heads in amazement, while still choosing to live here? Blog Dolce Vita has some of the answers. It’s a blog that seeks the reality of Italian life, and presents it in terms comprehensible to an international audience. For a country that has been so loved throughout the world, it has also lost much of its authenticity in foreign countries where the “Italian” way of life no longer reflects the myriad experiences in the native country itself. Blog Dolce Vita is new to Blogo.it but so far our blogging has examined Italy’s pass times, political scene, cuisine, world famous design, city and country life. Presented by an Italian from British descent and an Australian living in Italy, it puts things into perspective – so don’t expect to find hundreds of articles on quaint country residences for your Tuscan sojourn. Blog Dolce Vita is about the Italian experience and way of life in 2008. What we do here, what we eat and read and get frustrated about. You can post comments, get riled up or stridently agree – or just enjoy the posts on new wine, trekking, sailing or dealing with bureaucracy. We welcome you along for the ride!
