Will Yankees or Sox have a happy Halladay?
The free-agent market may not be keeping the hot stove season warm, but the Roy Halladay sweepstakes are starting to get interesting.
A source told the Daily News that the Red Sox are “putting on a full-court press” to acquire Halladay, hoping to add the former Cy Young winner to the top of their rotation to go with Josh Beckett and Jon Lester.
“They would love to get it wrapped up before the Winter Meetings,” the source said of the Red Sox.
If the Red Sox make a serious push for Halladay, can it be very long before the Yankees get involved?
Toronto GM Alex Anthopoulos seems willing to deal Halladay within the division, but it will
Yankees offer 'HOPE' and get rewarded
No Yankees players took home any postseason awards this week, but the organization earned a very nice honor on Saturday at the 11th Annual National Sportsmanship Awards in St. Louis.
The Yankees were recognized for their work with Camp Sundown during last July's inaugural HOPE Week. Jason Zillo, the team's media relations director and the man responsible for getting HOPE Week off the ground, was joined by A.J. Hall's display of Glory
The Baseball Hall of Fame has added artifacts from the 2009 World Series to its "Autumn Glory" exhibit, and a friend of mine made a trip to Cooperstown to check it out for himself.

Joe Girardi and Brian Cashman provided the star power at tonight’s premiere of the 2009 World Series Film DVD at the Ziegfeld Theatre in midtown Manhattan, but the Yankees’ manager and general manager seemed much more at ease talking baseball than they did walking the red carpet.
“Someone asked me what I was wearing and I had no idea what that meant,” Girardi said.
Not much news came out of our time with Cashman and Girardi, though I can offer you a few nuggets:
* Cashman hasn’t finished his discussions with ownership about the 2010 payroll yet, and as a result of that, he hasn’t had legitimate discussions with any agents yet.
Mauer beats Teixeira, Jeter for AL MVP
As expected, Joe Mauer captured AL MVP honors today in a lopsided vote, collecting 27 of the 28 first-place votes. I thought it would be unanimous, but one voter decided Mauer was worthy of a second-place vote. His first place vote went to
Mark Teixeira? Derek Jeter? No. It went to Miguel Cabrera.
Miguel Cabrera? The Tigers slugger had a solid season, but after hitting .345 through August 25, he batted .259 over the final 38 games of the season as the Tigers watched their commanding lead over Mauer’s Twins fall apart. Throw in the fact that he was arrested in a domestic violence incident during the final weekend of the season - again, while his team was coughing up i
