Love of comics got me started drawing around age four, and I just never stopped. I've done a variety of art for my supper. I actually served a tour in Uncle Sam’s Navy as a Naval Illustrator-Draftsman, and even joined the ranks of the world's second oldest profession, live caricature art. To view samples of my work check out the caricature section of my portfolio.
Currently I'm earning my MFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design (Atlanta campus), doing caricature for parties and events, freelance illustration for the game and entertainment industry, and penciling, inking and coloring comic pages for Oni Press. When I'm finished with my MFA I intend to add "Art Professor" to this list as well. |

Movie theater RANT
I've just about had it with movie theaters... well, the people in them really. Cell phone talking has really been reduced by those ads that play at the beginning of every film. Terrific! Now we need an ad that says, "hey idiot, your super bright iphone screen is distracting, so put it away. Did you really pay 10 bucks to text your little boyfriend or girlfriend for 2 hours?" And a, "Hey, shut the hell up" ad, and a "Hey, stop kicking the seats in front of you" ad, and for those of you that don't even know you're doing it a, "Hey, look down at your foot... cause you're stamping louder than a horse whenever the movie gets a little tense" ad. I could go on! Next time you go to a movie, pleas
Manga Studio Pencils... again
Here's another page of Pencils I did in Manga Studio. This is going to be a 12 page mini comic about a campfire ghost story, btwy. Created by an old friend of mine, Beau Trussell, and scripted by him with assistance from me. Beau is an incredibly smart, media savvy guy that I've wanted to do some
Notes on my Manga Studio process
Thanks to everyone who has been stopping by my blog. I got this comment on my last post, and felt like it warranted a post of it's own:"It would be very useful if you could post a video tutorial/screencast on how you do penciling in Manga Studio. Do you use the perspective tools in Manga Studio? thanks"I wouldn't even know how to go about making a video. I'm really not doing anything all that different than working traditionally with a light-box. I slice up my panels using the standard Manga Studio tools and rasterize the layer. Then I do rough thumbnails making sure I DON'T zoom in (I actually zoom out so that the page is no bigger than 4 inches tall on my screen).
Another Page of Pencils in Manga Studio
This is another page I penciled in Manga Studio. Note that I skipped a page from the last post. It will be raining in each of these panels, btwy. I just decided to save most of that work for the ink stage.I'm starting to find lots of little things useful in this software that
First Page of Pencils in Manga Studio
This is the first page I've ever "penciled" in Manga Studio, and the experience wasn't half bad. It took about the same amount of time that my Resurrection pages took. I'm leaving this intentionally loose(ish), because I intend to do a lot of the work in ink. The gray ereas are going to
