Description: We bought this wreck of a house in July 2004. Most of the other houses we looked at before deciding on this one had already been “redone,” usually by a flipper or by a homeowner (both of which had their potential share of problems). Because so much of this home’s original stained woodwork was intact, we decided to take the plunge. Our previous experience with minor remodeling on three earlier houses somehow led us to believe that we could handle this one. We spent 8 months in a rental house while gutting the upper level and partially finishing the main level. Ever since, we've endured a never-ending stream of weekend projects and wasted vacation days - all in hopes of someday ending up with a completely restored bungalow. We still have a lot of weekends ahead of us...

Weekend Update
Things are really feeling good.  Three of the dormers are done, sans touch-ups, and we have moved the scaffold over to the other side of the house.  The end is clearly in sight now! Dormer #3...check. more
