Grand Mosque soon to rise in Cebu City
An official from the Office of the Muslim Affairs (OMA) in Central Visayas bared that if the funding will immediately be sourced out and the schedules will be properly followed, this city will soon have its Grand Mosque at the South Road Properties (SRP). OMA 7 regional director Sakiran Hajan said that if the Grand Mosque will be fully realized it is expected to accommodate 1,000 people inside while its exterior area can cater triple it’s inside capacity. “It is going to be the first of its kind in the country because its architectural design will be patterned to the modern style Mosque found in Muslim dominated countries like Turkey and Dubai,” he said.
Resto reinvents itself, eyes more clients
A Thai restaurant is reinventing itself to get a better share of the market with the expected opening of the Radisson Hotel in Cebu next year. “After nine years of Krua Thai’s existence here in Cebu, we have decided to reinvent it. And part of it is the new name: Royal Krua Thai,” said Jim Hiranpruck, one of the restaurant’s owners. Hiranpruck said that they would be investing over a million pesos to renovate the restaurant, which is in SM City Cebu, a few meters away from the planned hotel. Read more…

PhilHealth Region 7 launched its newest service office in Mandaue City last Monday, October 12, expanding its major service points to now cover eight strategic locations in the region. The new PhilHealth office-located at Wireless Plaza, Wireless, Mandaue City-provides full service to members and employers in the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu and the towns of Consolacion, Liloan and Cordova, Cebu Manned by seven personnel, the service office receives premium payments, remittance reports, applications for registration, and benefit claims. Members may also request for re-issuance of their member data record, benefit payment notice and PhilHealth number card or lifetime memb
Cebu continues to be strong BPO arena
Cebu remains a strong and viable city for business process outsourcing (BPO) activities. “We have balanced infrastructure development with many domestic and international transportation [options]. We are the second largest city and fastest growing economy in the country contributing to 10 percent of national export and 30 percent to tourism sales; and we have the best government support, and all of our nine universities offer IT courses with some having tied up with BPO and call centers for skilled manpower,” said Sabino Dapat, chairman of the Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDF-IT).
Lapu child wins int’l quiz tilt, honored
Another Oponganon gave Lapu-Lapu City pride by taking home the bronze medal in the international academic competition that drew 51 teams from seven different countries held in Tianjin, China last month. Jann Eric Niño del Campo Manglapus competed in the Junior High School Mathematics Olympiad. He was from the RP Match Whiz Team and the only one from Central Visayas. Read more…
