Charles Williams was born in Roseboro North Carolina. He was one of 13 children in a very musical family. Charles began his musical career singing in church and never looked back – singing is all Charles has ever done.
Charles’ first big break came with the Flip Wilson show in 1977. In 1979, he sang with Billy Preston before being “discovered” by the late great Johnny Otis.
Although Charles managed to find time to briefly sing with The Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin in the mid-eighties, he sang and recorded primarily with Johnny Otis from 1980 to 2000. Charles was a featured singer in Otis’ show and recorded numerous solos with the Johnny Otis Band.
In 2000, he left Otis and joined the Cool Jerks in San Jose California. Along the way, Charles has sung or recorded with Dionne Warwick, Della Reese, Liberace, Sammy Davis Junior, Lou Rawls, Bo Diddely, Little Richard, and more.
