petals and patchwork....

Work is continuing on my white cloth, the latest additions being a tiny piece of patchwork and some cutwork petals with lace. There is still a long way to go, probably two more sections to piece, surface embroidery to apply, rouleau loops to create.....I am talking myself into list writing here.....

embellishing

The latest titivated section of my new white cloth. Cutwork holes with snippets of my ridiculously cheap vintage lace frothing out from inside. This is the section with the wonderful tiny label that I discovered....I am thinking this is my favourite section and will always be my favourite section. I

sorting

I'm sorting out, picking, choosing, deciding, trying to establish some kind of order within the chaos that is my stash of work, supplies, cloth, thread....you know what I mean. I know you do because I would bet you have similar chaos. During the course of my extending embellishment class I created a

hearts and lace

Just a small corner of my white cloth. Four cutwork love hearts with a lace insert. I bought this lace in London from a vintage shop. It was ridiculously cheap. There are yards and yards of it and it is so fine and delicate I think I found a treasure. This cloth will be a gift for someone special.

extending....

Extending my sketchbook page with needle weaving, cutwork, French knots and thumbnails whilst thinking all the time, trying to collate something in my head that is hiding. Never mind, I will continue to stitch and extend. We are doing cutwork in class this week so it was inevitable that I would use

The embroidery is inspired by the page...after looking, considering and doodling I came up with padded circular applique, a little needle weaving and some not very well embroidered satin stitch. I fi

seams....

We're working on seams in class...edges. I have been taking pictures of wrapping cloths next to toe wraps...colour next to white. What a contrast. The white is current, from now, yesterday, last week. The colour and pattern feel like a life time ago although it is only months. Measuring time in embr

Two flowers, twelve petals and numerous bullion knots, last nights endeavours  for my cloth. Class will be de listed tomorrow. I am hoping to start on my May newsletter this week... I'm still waiting for that blinding revelation I mentioned yesterday...nothing lost though...I can stitch.

playing some more....

I am spending hours with white which I love and I have to say...struggle to put down...and occasionally I have a colour break, looking, sampling and thinking. This is from yesterdays colour and pattern hour. New samples, older samples, pretty paper plates that were bought to never be used....as plat
