0 TO 60 IN 3 DAYS
First and foremost, the breast cancer 3-day is so far one of the best things I have ever done. I am so happy that I finally decided to do it, and even happier that Paul was there with me. When we met the team on Thursday night before the walk started, Paul was the man of the hour. All of the ladies on the team kept coming up and saying, "You're the guy! The boyfriend who surprised his girlfriend! That's so cute!". That sentiment continued throughout the walk when other walkers noticed us holding hands most of the time and always walking together and wanted to take a picture of the romantic couple or know what the story was of why he came to support me. I'm so
In Honor Of... In Memory Of...
I am walking in honor of my dad's cousin Pam Matthews, who was diagnosed at a late state and is currently going through chemo and fighting the disease.I am walking in honor of my mom's cousin's wife Penny Gentile, who was diagnosed in the same week as her sister, and they are both currently going through chemo and fighting the disease.I am walking in memory of my mom's cousin Doreen Breton, who was diagnosed with breast cancer, went into remission and then re-diagnosed and died less than a year later. She was only 42 years old.I am walking in memory of Maggie Ososki's aunt Barbara Barber, who was
Packing My Life
Tonight I am packing. This being my first 3-day I'm having a hard time not packing everything I own. You know, just in case. Just in case I need my 3 inch heels for a White House dinner that I'll get invited to. Just in case I'll need a scarf and hat and mittens in case it starts snowing. It's bound to happen. But I'm trying. Growing up in Maine, you think I would've gone camping once or twice, but I never did. If I had, I probably wouldn't be having such a hard time packing right now.
I'm Official!
I'm now official! I printed out and laminated my breast cancer 3-day credentials today! I've been making my packing list, checking and rechecking and adding things when they pop into my head. I'm just hoping the weather will hold and there won't be any rain! Weather.com says a bit of rain for Saturday or Sunday, not the worst thing but could certainly make things a bit uncomfortable.
Three days away
When I signed up for this walk in May, October seemed to be an eternity away. I was already so excited when I got my first email from the 3 day congratulating me on registering. Then I got my 3 day packet in the mail with all of the getting started tips, followed by the 3 day training packet that included my official lanyard and stickers to track my fundraising journey with.
