Google Chrome OS
Google released a developer version of their new operating system this week: Chrome OS. The operating system is a derivative of Linux and is designed as a no-cost alternative to windows and mac OS X. The developer preview is spare and is designed to give developers a chance to create applications and extensions for the new operating system as much as to give the public a preview. Google Ignores META Tags?
The Official Google Webmaster Blog has a post that explains why Google ignores the "description" META data in it's ranking formula. Google doesn't outline the specifics of how they do rank pages, but the Google Webmaster Tools page does outline what META data it does prefer and how to best work deploy your website for good positioning in search results.

Apps Are The New Content
Mobile applications are quickly becoming a dominant vehicle for marketing. Any brand that is communicating with an audience and relying on the web as a vector, needs to begin to leverage this new channel. In the same way that web-pages became a requirement to communicate with an audience in the mid-nineties, applications and widgets are the new "cost-of-entry" for having an exchange with consumers.
