Sisterhood - Coming Soon!
I just realized that I haven't posted the cover of "Sisterhood" on the blog yet! I plan on getting it to the printer in June, so it should be widely available somewhere in July.

Is Twitter an Effective Writing Tool?
I was just asked a very interesting question on Twitter: How is Twitter an effective writing tool? My initial reaction was: It's not! I believe there are a number of great books that have not been written because their authors were playing on Twitter and other social media platforms instead of wri

Better than Duct Tape!
Each day, I spend a few minutes or more studying marketing, new products and trends in the writing industry. I study trends in technology, too, because that influences writing directly these days. If a product or company has learned something new about marketing and reaching people, I want to know.

Lies and Assumptions
I've been reviewing my novel for consistency, reading through the story, checking that each character is behaving in line with their character arc. I found a scene where Marie turned to Dana and lied. Now, she had a good reason to lie, but that isn't the point. Because these characters had a basis o

Delayed in Dallas
Warning: this is likely to be one of those religious posts. I'm not real fond of airplanes. During a recent trip, I'd been away from home for a lot longer than I wanted to be. I was eager to get home. As is usual, I was praying a lot during my flights. I had to change planes in Dallas. As I walked

Interview with Shayne Parkinson
I admit it -- I haven't used Smashwords. I've got publishing arrangements that handle distribution using other methods, partially because I run my own publishing house. Some of the ones I love might not be available to all indies. When people ask me for recommendations, I hesitate, because I'm tempt

Scam Alert!
It's time for my semi-annual scam alert post. Each year a company sends me a bill for renewing my domain name. The problem is, my domain name isn't registered through them. They even send me an envelope to make paying the bill easier. This year they've modified the front verbiage a bit -- it now say

I'm MAD!
I hate getting angry. My father had a temper. His face would turn red, and he would explode. Sadly, I seem to have inherited the potential to do just the same. So, I don't do it often. I fight my anger, causing my blood pressure to alarm doctors. The stored up energy makes it ever so much more impre

Learn to Self-Publish and Self-Market in November with LWA
Self-publishing your own novel for the first time can be daunting. The self-marketing part alone offers a rushing river of options that threaten to wash the creativity right out of the unwary. In "Panning for Gold not Silicon", I'm teaching writers how to stake a claim in the rich new territory of P

Beautiful Outlaw and a Beautiful Promo
Most of the time, my posts are about writing and marketing books. Sometimes I write about my religious beliefs. This post is both of these plus a book review. Anyone who knows me very well knows I'm a big fan of Ransomed Heart. Their books are healing, touching on the common wounds that we all bear
