Dear Adam Lambert fans....
I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but what your guy did? It's been done before, and by someone wearing even more glitter and makeup. Ten years before Adam was born. Gives a whole new meaning to "Ziggy played guitar...", no? And for my very very young readers, that's David Bowie fellating the guitar of Mick Ronson on the Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars tour. In 1972. I'm just saying.
Cute nephew story
So, my little 4 year old nephew's other aunt, his mom's sister, took him to the Academy of Science the other day. In the kids' education area, a naturalist had a boa and was telling the kids about them. Every question he asked the kids about boas, my little nephew's hand shoots up, and he knows the answer -- what they eat, how they eat, where they come from, everything. So the guy asks if he has a boa, and my nephew says, yes, he has two, named Crawl and Yellow. I'm sure the guy was hugely impressed, both at my nephew's vast knowledge of boas and the fact that he had two of them at home at such a tender age. Vacation, all I ever wanted...
I just got back from one of the best vacations of my life. And I wish I'd never gone. The handy little grief articles and books tell you over and over that grief is normal and has stages and blah blah blah, but seriously, no one ever mentioned that having yourself teleported out of your normal grieving existence into a place where the scenery is gorgeous, the company is wonderful, there is absolutely no stress -- even the weather is great, which considering I was in Washington State in November is nothing short of a miracle -- could be hazardous to your mental and emotional health. And god, yes, I had a good time. But the crash? It's fucking killing me.
I'm discussing Vick, dogs on Live from the Left Coast tonight
I’ve been asked to discuss my SFGate.com column about Michael Vick and what he did to his dogs on the radio show Live from the Left Coast with Angie Coiro — I guested, along with Marion Nestle, on her show about the most recent Nutro pet food recalls earlier this year — this evening at around 6:40 PM Pacific Time. You can listen to the show in the San Francisco Bay Area at 960 AM, or on the Internet at www.green960.com. They also run an open discussion during the show as well, at www.lftlc.com/live. Hope you can tune in!
No one to tell
Something really exciting happened to me today, and I wanted to tell my mom. I started dialing her number before I remembered.
