Description: Duel of the Voices. The two voices(one wise, one vice)Once upon a time there was a little boy. He was unique in the way that he was made of Clouds. Ephemeral and not rooted in reality. He drifted and floated in existence. However there was something very important in the boy, and that was potential. Two vital forces fought for control over the boy. Each, if victorious, would have the power to solidify and control the boy's fate. It was a grim battle they fought, the two Voices. The strange thing was that they were nothing alike. One was wise and the other, a vice. It is left to the reader to decide which is which. One Voice, a grey, viscous cloud, spoke of experience and faith, of stability and the importance of trudging the path well worn, that the feet may not feel the pain of the stones on that path, being smoothened down by those gone before. It spoke of obedience and respect, of fitting in and submitting. It expressed in eloquent terms the peace attained in conforming to the bigger world and its infallible rules. Rules that were made by the Powers-That-Be for Your-own-Good. It inspired insidious fear and terror about that dreaded entity: Failure. However, there was just one problem. All the strength and vitality of this Voice came from the outside. The other Voice was a warm glow of sunshine. It bubbled with sweet innocence, clean in its purity. It gave no advice. It gave no assurance of success or failure. It gave no promise of either stability or paradise. But it carried in its essence the fragrance of Heaven. It existed in the clarity of its purpose,if only the boy were to listen to it. It drew its strength from itself. Though it gave no hint of courage, it calmed the boy's fears without being asked and gave him something the other voice NEVER, EVER could. Hope. "Hope isn't going to feed ur stomach.", growled the other voice."What will you do when you are poor, homeless, sick and dying? Who is going to save you then?". The boy looked towards the other soft Voice. It was quiet. It said nothing about what IT was so it was hard to discern and believe in it. It just shone a bit brighter, then dimmed. "You must make a choice between us, if u are to survive..", said the dark cloud ominously, in a Choose-me tone. It offered the boy a cuved, shining dagger. And waited for his decision. The boy looked at the knife, and its cold, cruel blade. No, not cruel, but benvolent because it would free him of this terrible choice. The boy of the Clouds looked at both the Voices. Suddenly, gripping the dagger he moved towards the Voices. And stabbed, and stabbed and stabbed. His hands stained in an ethereal colour as he slowly stopped. Even while bleeding, the Voice sighed, suffusing him with its breath, bestowing upon him its last gift. The triumphant voice gave a loud roar of victory as it entered the boy, now the sole occupant and master. And as the boy hardened into something he would be for the rest of his life, he felt a pang as he watched the other Voice fade away. The silent voice, the one which had not screamed in pain or protest in spite of being struck repeatedly. The pure one.Dead at last.
