Irony

We’ve been very dry lately.  It’s been something like sixteen or seventeen days since we’ve had rain. I dont’ think we’ve even had any rain since my corn was planted.  Still it’s been growing.  Luckily tonight, we got some rain. It was only about a tenth of an inch, but at least it was some [...]

Annie Belle O’Boera

Annie and her two sisters came to my little farm when they were fairly young kids, probably three months.  I brought them here to give Goliath his own girls.  Annie grew into a lovely lady and has had several kids. Last year she had two big beautiful bucks with Marley, one of which is Fionn. [...]

Somebody Might Be Surprised

I’ve been gathering three different kids of eggs:  peacock, goose, and chicken. My sister wants some peacocks.  She has a goose sitting on an empty nest.  Hmm….Yep, we put six peacock eggs under the goose.  In 28 days, she might have quite a surprise. The Circle of Life

Living on the farm, I am quite aware of the circle of life.  I get to enjoy the beautiful miracle of life.  The kids are amazing to watch.  The most recent kids are Muffin’s twins. They still don’t have names, so feel free to suggest. They are both little girls. My most recent bottle kid [...]

The Gardens Get Tilled

My uncle brought his little tractor out and tilled my garden today. I set the plants out today so they could harden off. My luffa gourd really needs to be planted, but it was way too windy today to plant. I also went to the greenhouse to look for more plants.  I was kind of [...]

Fencing

I have been complaining about the fence on my south border all spring and wishing it was already replaced.  Last weekend, the day finally came for us to get to work on it.  We started by ripping out that wonderfully photogenic worthless fence. My son was removing the chicken wire I used to try and [

Zucchini Chips

As I think about planting the garden, I imagine what a bumper crop of zucchini squash I’m going to have and wonder what the heck I’m going to do with all of them.  I decided to try making zucchini chips.  I started by getting a food dehydrator.  It’s not a fancy one.  It’s only got [...]

The End of Round Three

Round three of kidding this year consisted of three girls, all due on May 12th.  They are all Boeris babies from the day he escaped.  Bonnie has her daughter, Cocoa. We really have to work on her not taking her kid into the tall grass of pasture or leaving her outside in the sunshine. I’ve [...]
