Lose control & gain credibility
Someone said this at the PRSA Northeast District Conference several weeks ago. With social media, you need to be part of the ongoing conversation and not worry about micromanaging your words or image. Instead, put yourself "out there" and get involved using the social tools. Be yourself and you will gain credibility. People will think more highly of you because you are being open and honest in your communications.Amazingly, this is the same as face-to-face communications. We like those people who are themselves and who do not try to control all of the words that come out of their mouths. We find them to be more credible.
I declared bankruptcy
Yesterday I declared bankruptcy. No, nothing to do with my finances. I looked at my RSS reader and declared RSS bankruptcy. I had way too many unread RSS feeds and there was no way I was going to catch up. So I marked 90+% of the items as read in an effort to start fresh.Someone said recently that we don't have information overload; we have filter failure. Often we try to consume information like water coming out of a fire hydrant. The information flows at us fast and furious. Instead of being able to take small sips, we find ourselves drowning in information. What we need to do is find ways of filtering the information so that only what we need
