Folks,I just got word of this from my homegirl.I am so sad, my classmates and I, as well as kids from every youth group in Bernal Heights at the time, helped paint elements of this beautiful mural that will soon be painted over. Bernal heights was a blue collar, diverse, family and youth oriented community that is now being stripped of this culture to make way for middle class white residents. Call Out for Volunteers in Chicago
Youth Speaks is installing the Battle canvases from the Chicago Battle around Chicago. Help needed.We're looking for volunteers with cars/trucks on Monday and Tuesday October 25-26th between the hours of 10-6pm to assist in distribution, and installation. Most likely installation consists of having access to Ladders, screw guns, hammers (2 people crews). Tempt One Creates Art with ONLY His Eyes
I've tweeted a couple times about Tempt One, a true Los Angeles graffiti king, who has done a lot for the graffiti culture. Thanks to Spie, I've had the honor of communicating with Tempt through email. This doesn't sound like such a big deal until you find out that Tempt is completely paralyzed with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). He can only move his eyes. Every word you see here, every image, was created with only his eyes.Tempt has graciously written a short synopsis of his writing career and of his battle to overcome ALS.
