Preliminary OK by 4-3 Vote to Move Elections to November
F.C. Council Has Long Emotional Debate Monday By a 4-3 vote taken at 11:15 p.m. following a lengthy debate Monday night, the Falls Church City Council took the first step toward moving the City's municipal elections from May to November. The vote affirmed the preliminary "first reading" of an ordinance that is now slated to come back for a final approval on Dec. 14.

F.C. Council Votes 4-3 to Give Preliminary OK to Move Local Elections from May to November
By a 4-3 vote at 11:15 p.m. tonight, the Falls Church City Council gave a preliminary approval to an ordinance to move municipal elections from May to November. It followed a 4-2-1 vote against an alternative resolution by Councilman Lawrence Webb to put the matter to a public referendum. Voting yes for the election date move were Mayor Robin Gardner, Hal Lippman, Dan Maller and Dan Sze.
Webb Proposes November Referendum on Election Date Change
Falls Church City Councilman Lawrence Webb, who helped raise the issue of changing the date of Falls Church municipal elections from May to November, offered an alternative to the Council tonight to place the matter as a referendum on the Nov. 2010 ballot. Action on the matter tonight was pending as of this filing.
