Favorite Breakfast
Anyone who has ever been on vacation with me knows I am a hard-core breakfast person. My ex boyfriend used to always like waiting until lunch to eat and I would get upset because breakfast is the most important meal of my day! I think I learned this from my dad who always had breakfast first thing after waking up. Wish I could go back to the days when dad used to make breakfast for me every morning, but unfortunately those days are over. Not only is breakfast one of my daily habits, but it has been repeatedly documented that breakfast jump starts your metabolism in the morning and that people who regularly eat breakfast weigh less than people who don't. A few weeks ago, while hanging out at Starbucks in my complex, I started chatting with a guy sitting across from me. He saw my nutrition books on the table and asked if I was into nutrition. I told him that I was a Registered Dietitian and he told me I was exactly what he had been looking
Are you ready?
An important part of weight loss is determining if you are really ready to make changes. Losing weight takes dedication and one must make a decision to keep going with healthy changes even when the going gets tough or you don’t see the results you expect.Earlier this week, a patient came into my office who said that she was only here for the appointment because her doctor was requiring her to lose weight. She told me she was not ready to make changes and didn’t mind being at her current weight of 280 lbs. I still provided her with a meal plan and some suggestions to improve her diet. Although this consult may seem frustrating to some, I was actually impressed by her honesty. I app
