Run for your life!
Alternate Title: (Literally) Running my Ass Off I am a dabbler. I am a flibbertigibbet of the highest degree, as proved by the fact that I know how to correctly spell flibbertigibbet without auto-correct giving me that annoying red line underneath. I am not well-known for my commitment to long-term

OMGlee
Last night was the season finale of Glee and the night our little Glee clobbers graduate. Well half of them graduated. Apparently, I’ve long harbored incorrect assumptions about the age and grade of fictional TV characters because I spent half the night thinking “Wait, he’s not a senior?” Overall, t

Eat this for dinner – Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps
I had my physical recently. My doctor is very pleased with my slow but steady weight loss, and my cholesterol, blood sugars and other bloodwoork-y things all look great! Basically, I’m kicking ass at being healthy, which is awesomesauce. I’ve been working hard at doing the South Beach Diet thing, in

It’s all fun and games until someone gets poisoned
Alternate title: What Happens In Atlantic City Ends Up on My Blog [Image courtesy of Harrah's Resort Atlantic City] We whisked Emily away for her bachelorette party this weekend and had a BLAST! We drove in the Ultra Mom-Mobile (heated seats in back! Enough cup holders! In-dash navigation! Automatic

Sorry
“Mrs. Carvin, can I have a quick word with you? I need to talk with you about something Abby did.” Does this sentence EVER lead to something good? (Well maybe. Once in a while.) It sure knocks the wind out of your sails when you hear it, though. And when I heard it from Abby’s [...]

Yummy in my tummy – Artichoke-Parmesan chicken
[UPDATE: Brian wants you all to know that *I* did not cook this dish. He followed the recipe that I put together IN MY HEAD and HE cooked dinner on the night in question. So there. Thank you, honey.] When Abby was born, Brian and I ended up staying the state of Florida for an obscenely long time. Fo

Showered
A few Saturdays ago, we had Emily’s wedding shower. It was a really lovely affair, attended by great people and she dragged home a freaking boatload of stuff. Other than one SNAFU where the restaurant tried to kill me with some unidentified penne a la vodka, everything was perfect.

Puttering along
Well, I’m home. As much fun as I had in Rome, and as much as I want to go back someday, I am kind of glad to be back home and getting back in the swing of things a bit. Of course, I got back and it was freaking MAY and I’m just not sure [...]

La dolce vita
As I write this, I’ve been in Rome for 5 days. I’m getting ready to head out for my last Roman dinner with friends, and I’ve walked from Campo dei Fiori to the Forum, from Stazione Termini to Piazza Barberini. I’ve hopped on and off buses and seen things I read about in my Latin [...]

A la Roma
I’m in Rome for a conference this week. It’s the first time I’ve traveled overseas without a family member or pack of Girl Scouts and it’s been pretty exciting so far. The flight was relatively uneventful, except for the baby in the row ahead of me who decided 3-5 a.m. Rome time was a perfect [...]
