Gillette leads Marathon; Bird wins Half
Justin Gillette leads the Veterans' Marathon at the half-way mark at one hour and sixteen minutes. Columbia City's Sam Bird won the Half-Marathon with a time of one hour and ten minutes.=

Veterans' Marathon a Success
The inaugural Veterans' Marathon began this morning under perfect skies. Race organizer Gary Bird said, "We couldn't ask for better weather. We are so pleased by the large turnout in this initial year." While the race has attracted marathon runners from across the country the lead runner is Northrop standout and Kansas Jayhawk cross-country runner Sam Bird. He leads at the 10 mile mark with a time of 53:50. =
