Blight continues to disappear in New Orleans, report shows
Using U.S. Postal Service records, researchers found that some 54,000 properties across town remain blighted or have no structure on them, while nearly 7,500 homes are likely habitable but vacant.The new statistics continue a trend of diminishing blight. Oak Street wine bar plans approved by New Orleans City Council
In a decision that Councilwoman Shelley Midura called probably the most difficult of her four-year tenure, the New Orleans City Council voted this week to approve plans for an "upscale wine bar and bistro" with live music in the commercial section of Oak Street.The site is in Midura's district.
