| Description: | with today's world of bad economic's and high rate of drug addiction's truckers are finding it harder to find a safe place to park the truck's to get their rest theses day's. the trucker is a easy target for drug addict's and transient's that know trucker's are willing to help people in need . in the day trucker's would pool their money together to help someone that had hard luck are emergency's on the road . but now day's many have fallen to addiction of drugs and crime and miss represent theirself's as needy for money for a fix. the crime has gotten so bad that a driver was killed for $7.00 in S.C. Jayson rivenburg from N.Y. and many are being held up at gun point for a fix. the trucker is faceing many safety issuses in the name of environmentalist that want to clean up the air and safety activist that don't care about the truckers safety to gain money in lawsuits with hour's of service rules . I'm all for cleaning up the air but with the new admisson spec's of trucks their is littel emisson's given that warrent a driver's right to idle for comfort of the rest to were they can have the window rolled up for secureity . the police won't add more units to patol the truck stops and safe armed patroled restareas are being closed do to the bad econmy . truely the drivers are being made to take the risks of robbery to not run the motors for cooling and far To many trucking companys can't aford A.P.U's were do you draw the line of saftey at for the driver ? and if the activist want the rules enforced were is the money they are willing to pay for driver safety ? the trucker is trying to be healthy and park away from the truck stop for exersize but if you aren't on the front row the many trucks act's as well cover to hide from drivers and police . in today's world women are driveing more now and men should be on the lookout for their safety and wellbeing . camaraderie needs to be a key safety goal of ALL trucker's and look for things that are not normal in truck stops like adults rideing bikes late at nite , 4 wheelers rideing around truck parking slow and people going truck to truck . sitting in the front seat with window down invites a person to ask you a question are beg for money . some think if they park in a remote place they are free of this but that is a good way for them to not get seen doing the crimes heavy populated areas are less to have problems ,to many chances of being seen will make them try more out of view ones . truckers need to support legislation that improve safety like jaysons law ect.... OOIDA needs more members to join the fight for our rights v and even if you are not a owner operater they are all we have looking out for our rights , the A.T.A is for large companys and not the American trucker . our strenght is in numbers to get the rights we need to help us this is my view of today's crazy world we live in " Be Safe out their |
