Nearly five years ago I shelled out a few thousand dollars of my “allowance money” on a Sanyo PLV Z3 Projector and an 82” Stewart Screen for a DIY Home Theater Project I started. My reasoning for going the Projector route really came down to total cost. After all it would have been significantly more spendy to get a plasma screen of that size at the time. I’m running a 2004 vintage Pioneer DVD player, and a good enough Pioneer AMP (THX, DTS, etc). The package is completed with some college era JBL speakers, and a 5.1 Logitech sound system. While I may not win any awards for the most elegant setup in the world I’m still pretty happy with what I’ve been able to ‘piece-meal
