living in the moment, or not
Whoever said “dogs live in the moment” never lived with a fearful dog. Every time I reach to pet Kiba, he still lowers his head and winces. If a dog lived in the moment, I guess we are to assume that they have a poor memory? Or choose to forget things? I wish Kiba lived [...]

janie
We’re making some progress with Janie. She’s coming out of her deep, dark shell a little more every day. She’s working on housebreaking, if she goes in the house she seeks out a pee pad (progress!). She’s starting to eat in front of us, and take treats from our hands. She loves our dogs, and [...]

higglety pigglety pop! by maurice sendak
You probably know, author and illustrator Maurice Sendak recently passed away. Though he was best known for Where the Wild Things Are, he had written several other fantastic stories. One that had always haunted me – and still does today – is Higglety Pigglety Pop! or There Must Be More to Life. Jenn

a house full of dogs
This week we were fortunate to dogsit Ms. Lola – she’s super sweet and dare I say extremely easy to care for. Then yesterday we picked up Hachi for a few days Kiba can’t be around Hachi, Janie or Lola. Lola seems nervous in the ‘crowd’ of dogs, so she can’t be around any of [...]

Janie and Kiba – keeping things interesting
Janie’s been settling in, and we’re learning a lot about her. She is a follower in that she carefully observes our dogs and follows their lead. She is taking some treats from my hand now, after watching my dogs do it (cheese is an amazing thing). She loves our couch, and seems less stressed when [..

adopt-me-vests by bark & giggle boutique
Bark and Giggle Boutique enthusiastically took on this special little project of mine. I wanted the shelter dogs to stand out at community events, and I wanted the foster dogs to get more attention from the adopting public. What better way than adorable, vibrant “Adopt Me” vests? Thanks ever so much
