How High Will Gold Go?
How high will the price of gold go?
A decade ago, gold was selling at about $300 per ounce. Now it is selling for about $1,000 per ounce.
A few forecasters think gold could reach $2,000 per ounce while other analysts call that crazy. Adjusted for inflation, the highest price gold has reached was around $1,700.
The reason gold is experiencing a price increase right now is because stocks and currency markets have been doing poorly. This causes many investors to flee into more conservative investments such as gold.
I think the price of gold will not go too much higher. Stocks are recovering as investors head back into the stock market. I thin
Should We Keep Investing In 401K's?
I just read the Time Magazine article about why 401K's should be retired.
The article basically talked about how the old pension programs were cancelled as companies tried to cut costs and increas profits. The article then showed how 401K's have not performed as well compared to old pension programs.
The main reasons for the lack of performance in 401k programs were said to be lack on individual investment by employees, poor fund performance, and lack of time for 401K programs to grow. Of course anytime you look at the performance of an investment program during one of the worst markets in history, there will be arguments for something different.
I can
Time To Get Out Of Bonds and Gold?
Investing is a trick game to play. It needs to be based on rational decisions and less on emotional judgements.
As the stock market was getting hammered last year, many people were getting out of the stock market and moving into bonds and gold. Personally, I was buying as much stock as I could because I saw it as a good proce for stocks. I find easier to go against what the majority of investors are doing because I have read Benjamin Graham's book many times.
Many people have been happy with the performance of their bond and gold investments. Does this mean it is time to follow the herd and buy gold and bonds?
I don't think so. Bonds have had a good ru
Socially Responsible Investing Funds
What are the best socially responsible investing funds?
Do you think SRI funds will do better now that the Obama Administration is in office?
I've always wanted to invest in socially responsible companies, yet I continue to invest in my same mutual fund each month with little knowledge of what I am investing in.
A few months ago, I finally took the time to look at what companies are in my mutual fund. I have often cursed the service of AT&T and now I find out that I am heavily investing in AT&T. I have often cursed the corrupt and polluting policies of the oil companies and now I realize I am heavily invested in the oil companies.
What Are Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS)?
I've been hearing about Treasury Inflation Protected Securities, or TIPS lately and I'm trying to figure out more about them.
As far as I know, they are government securities that protect against inflation.
I'm not exactly sure how they work, but a lot of people are talking about how the high national debt levels might lead to high inflation. I figure these types of securities might be a good type of conservative investment in case inflation gets out of control.
Has anyone used Treasury Inflation Protected Securities before or know anything more about them?
Thanks
