The Day In Israel: Tuesday Dec 1st, 2009
The UN has been marking as a day of mourning the the day on which it approved the partition recommending partition of Palestine into a Jewish and an Arab state.
The UN is currently marking the historic date of November 29 1947, the day in which it approved the partition plan separating Israel into two states – Jewish and Arabic.
But while in Israel the date is celebratory, as it marks the end of the British mandate and the beginning of independent rule, the UN headquarters in New York and Geneva are holding ceremonies of mourning and solidarity with the Palestinian people

The State Prosecutor’s Office has revealed that Israel plans to release 980 terrorists in exchange for Gilad Shalit.
As part of an agreement with Hamas, which would allow the return of soldier Gilad Shalit to Israel,” the State said in its response, “there is a possibility for the release in principle of about 450 prisoners whose names are being delivered by Hamas, and whose release is being examined in detail in accordance with different considerations and based on rationales of security and values.”

Muammar Gaddafi disappointed some 200 Italian women after he invited them using an agency advertizing a “party” where the Libyan leader proceeded to lecture them on Islam, Italian media reported on Monday.
