Being a virtual assistant and not doing much one-on-one or direct marketing, marketing budgets can get a bit high.  One tip I tell clients is to participate in competitions, join and participate in industry communities, and contribute articles and press releases related to your expertise on websites, local papers, and any resource allowing you to do so.
