How Do I Start Kwanda In My Community?
Kwanda is about people getting together to work on a specific issue. Are you a member of any group? Is there an issue that you and other members of your group would like to tackle? For instance, you can all agree in your group that you want to make sure that shebeens in your community close at a certain hour. Once your goal is clear, you can start thinking how you want to deal with the issue. In this instance, you may consider starting by involving as many people in your community as possible. How/Why Were The Five Kwanda Communities Selected?
The criteria for selecting communities was that they needed to be facing challenges with HIV, orphans and vulnerable children, alcohol related violence and poverty. We were also looking for communities that had organisations that were very keen to partner with Soul City to address these challenges. Soul City visited various provinces that indicated interest. At the end, Kwakwatsi, Pefferville, uMthwalume, Tjakastad and Lephephane were selected. How can I get on TV? Send us stories of the activities Kwanda inspired you to get involved in.
