Family Portraits in Central Park
The azaleas were bursting into bloom when Kyo photographed this family in Central Park last month. Although it was a very cold day, they were troopers, even the little one!

Strawberry Picking at Von Thun Farms
It’s strawberry picking season, everybody…. Why is it that fruit you picked yourself always tastes better than any other kind? Last weekend we visited Von Thun Farms on their “Kids Day,” conveniently timed the day before Mother’s Day so you can pick up plenty of flowers and vegetable seedlings for M

Brooklyn Botanical Garden wedding album in black silk brocade
We recently delivered this wedding album to one of the wonderful couples with whom we worked in 2011. They chose black silk brocade for the cover, which is unusual, but makes an elegant and striking package. They held their wedding at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden during cherry blossom season, so th

Lower East Side Family Photo Session
This was one of my favorite family portrait sessions from this past holiday season. We’ve been meaning to post it on our blog for a long time! This little boy just sparkles (except when he’s being put in his stroller — you can see the expression in his eyes: “I am NOT ready to go [...]

A Destination Wedding in New York City
Like most photographers, I love destination weddings. A few months ago, I photographed a destination wedding, but it happened to be a destination right next door: New York City. Yoko, the bride, used to live in New York with her family. While she has moved back to Japan, New York is still a special

Rustic Apple Pie (When You Don’t Have Time for Fancy Crust)
As many of you know, I love to bake. But I am also a very busy person. Perhaps that is why I’ve always been more inclined toward rustic-style cakes and tarts rather than fancy decorated pastries. Many “country” baked goods are relatively quick to make — and I think they taste better, too. Maybe that

Light and Shadows at D&R Canal in Kingston
I recently photographed an engagement session with a couple who are getting married in Princeton this summer. We met at the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park in Kingston, NJ, on a blustery spring afternoon. At the clients’ request, we cannot show you pictures of them until their wedding day, but I

Dandelions for Dinner
A couple days ago, as I stood contemplating the weeds in our lawn, I had a Eureka moment. “Wait a minute,” I thought to myself. “Aren’t dandelions edible?” After a quick search on my iPhone, I discovered that not only are dandelions edible, according to some nutritionists, they make spinach look lik

A Rainy Day at the Nakayama Temple 中山寺 in Takarazuka, Japan
On our trip to Japan last week, we visited the Nakayama Buddhist temple in Takarazuka, which has twelve different mini-temples dedicated to each of the Chinese zodiac signs. It is watched over by a serene tabby cat.
