La Frontera Times is the product of Latinos, Residentes Legales, Americanos, Indocumentados and recently minted Ciudadanos. It is our attempt to influence the Immigration debate from the streets of America and the deserts of the crossing. We will aggregate the news and also do original reporting in Spanish and English. We are witnesses to the Journey of hope.
The daily life of the undocumented is being felt and reported in local communities across America. Most of us have a narrow view of this undulating fabric. Hate, repression and occasionally great acts of courage and love are the daily bread of the undocumented in every corner of America. LFT is one place that these stories are brought together and where the whole national fabric becomes clear. We believe it is essential for policy makers and activists to have an insight into all of it: from L.A. to Agua Prieta and on to Long Island by the way of North Carolina. Latino immigrants are in every corner of America. LFT brings all the threads together.
Language Divides. This is a unique passionate debate carried on in English on behalf of millions who do not understand the words that will determine their future. Suspicion easily arises in such circumstances. The Internet and new media technologies can be used creatively to overcome obstacle of language. We are experimenting with the newest technologies to inform and unite our community. We will deploy those technologies to empower our community so that Congress hears their voices.
And finally there is attitude. If LFT is to be contagious it has to be fun and sarcastic, sardonic and appropriately angry and indignant. It has to be colorful, engaging and even confrontational. LFT has an attitude and it is on a mission. |

By John Aravosis

Undocumented Eligibility Issue for Undocumented Scrutinized
By Alec MacGillis
Republican Rep. Joe Wilson's shout of "You lie!" during President Obama's speech Wednesday night brought renewed attention to swirling questions about whether Democratic health-care legislation would extend coverage to illegal immigrants. Although the answer is more complicated than reform proponents acknowledge, it also does not square with ...
Schumer Delays Introducing Immigration Reform
By Maegan la Mamita Mala
As the health care debate draws more hate against “illegal immigrant coverage”, the Democratic Senator charged with introducing immigration reform legislation is making more excuses instead of moving forward.
Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., has decided to delay introducing legislation to overhaul the nation’s ...
