'Tis The Season...Almost
November is National Adoption Awareness Month. Being an adoptive mom, this means a great deal to me.I was recently contacted by Reece's Rainbow and asked to sponsor one of the kids off their Christmas Angel Tree Project. I, of course, agreed. My daughter was lucky, she was born in the United States and had five families interested in making her a permanent part of their family. Melissa, on the other hand, is not so lucky. She lives in the Ukraine and needs a family to call her own. Unfortunately, she was not in a "picture taking mood" when they too
Pumpkin Time!
This past weekend we headed out to the pumpkin patch to find some gourds to cut into! Miss E had a great time! The weather was absolutely gorgeous out! She didn't even want to wear her jacket! (A kid after my own heart!)Words can't explain how much fun I have being this child's mother. She is
The Flege Family
Most of us in the Down syndrome community online know The Flege Family. I am proud to call Amy my friend and adore her husband Stacy and their children, Jayden, Riley and Miss Mayson (who is chromosomally enhanced!) Last week Stacy had open heart surgery and the family will be without income for approximately one month. Some of their family and friends have put together a silent auction to help raise some funds to see them through. The Silent Auction is October 17th, at St. John Lutheran Church in Ely, from 4pm-7pm.If you would like to donate something for the silent auction, make a donation or have any questions plea

Baby J came into my home a few weeks before Miss E arrived. She was also born with an extra chromosome and was six weeks premature. I met her at four weeks of age and for the next two and a half years, raised both girls in my home.Miss E and Baby J were the best of friends and the worst of enemies, as most sisters are. They spoke in their own language, challenged one another and were quite the pair. However, Baby J's adoption took a different route and we had to say goodbye to he
Summer: In Review!
What a summer it has been! We've been busy, busy, busy!!In general, Little Miss E has lost not one, but two teeth already! She is also doing really well with potty training and stays dry all day. Those hourly trips to the potty help keep her on track and she already has an obsession with the restrooms at stores, restaurants, etc. She asks to go potty no matter where we go...which, again, helps keep her dry!Her signing and speech is increasing by leaps and bounds, which means her goofy personality is coming out more and more. We've been discussing the difference between girls and boys (mommy is a girl, Bubba is a boy, etc.) Th
