Jesus declares Himself “Lord” (or) I hate it when that happens
One of the pet peeves of any good preacher of the gospel is when you put in the study and you deliver your sermon… and then you’re driving home or listening to it later and realize that you completely missed communicating something important to the flock. While I think my sermon today was God-honoring and got the point of the text across, that happened to me today – and it drives me crazy. I’m preaching through the Gospel of Mark, and today’s text was the second half of a two-parter on Mark 5:1-20, where Jesus casts the “Legion” of demons out of the Gerasene man. Las
I am the Lion King
It is equally absurd and amazing the things that can come to one’s mind when walking in solitude. What follows are some of those thoughts. I have no idea how I started thinking about this, and the analogy is admittedly far from perfect, but while walking I realized the myriad similarities that exist between the experiences of my life and the 1994 movie, “The Lion King.” I take no credit, absolutely none, for the happy ending, “for it is God who is at work in [me], both to will and to work for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). Just call me Simba
Choosing Thomas
“We didn’t terminate because he was our son…” (This video is nearly ten minutes long. It is hard but it is worth it.  You can also read the mother’s diary here. Also well worth it.)
Do I remain a PC or not? (Read before you respond.)
I’m thinking that a new computer is in my future.  Not today, not tomorrow, and probably not this year… but probably next year at some point.  I currently have a Dell XPS M140 laptop that has served me well for 3-1/2 years, but the toll it has taken is starting to show.  So the question on my mind is, “What do I get next?” Alright, people.  I know some people are passionate about this here topic so before any of you decide to give me input I have some ground rules: 1.  I want real input!  Why should I stay with a PC?  Why should I switch to a Mac? 2.  Real input does not include statements like, “Because PCs don’t work̶
Sermon audio available
If you are not regularly investigating every byte of this web page or don’t follow me on Facebook or Twitter (and WHY don’t you?), then you might not know that the sermon audio content on the page has increased significantly over the past few weeks.  Through the graciousness of my web hosting provider I am now able to upload my sermons for you the would-be faithful listener. I plan to upload most of my sermons as long as I have the space to do so.  You can access them by clicking on the Sermons link above.  Right now I am preaching through the Gospel of Mark so that is what most of them will be.
