Measuring Up highlights the latest in local government performance, achievements, failures, and establishment of performance standards. At SRSI, we are committed to supporting and creating improved government administration and standards for a wide variety of the procedures and substantive tasks that must be carried out to serve the public well. A cornerstone of our services is benchmarking, by which we investigate and compare the ways in which local governments are performing specified tasks. The results of such studies, which are performed either at the request of anything from a single government unit to a large international consortium of governments, form the basis for establishing standards, or benchmarks, by which governments can self-evaluate using empirical data. We do more, however, by providing municipal officials and other stakeholders with educational programs and training to enable them to deliver the highest quality services to the taxpayer.
