haven't done an update in a while, so...
Here's what I've been up to:1. Trying to figure out what's running on my laptop, because the fan has been running like mad the past week and the battery life cut down severely because of it. We'll see if the reboot this morning cleared something (I know, I know...I should have rebooted sooner). Usually this only happens while Norton is running a full system scan, but that would have been done long ago. It seems quiet again now, so fingers crossed whatever was stuck is out of the system.2. I figure the weird call I had yesterday was a daycare prospect intimidated by my rude I-don't-brake-for-telemarketers attitude. What can I say? It was an unlist
riding lesson summary
Had a SUPER lesson tonight! Beau has done so well with DUH that tonight we worked on refining our work for dressage and getting out of a bad habit we've developed. These are the cliff notes version for anyone interested and for myself to remember. (Note to self:  he should respond to a touch like a butterfly, as my instructor described it. If he isn't, that's where the whip comes in. A touch of leg, and if no response, a tap (or snap if necessary) of the whip.)First of all, the bad habit. He's always had that tendency to fall on his left shoulder--the problem that used to have him running out on me when he was at his worst. He used to also lean heavily on me to support him.
Best. Ride. EVER!
This seems to be turning into my horse journal, but it's more. It's just that this is where I point from my website for my horse updates for anyone interested.Tonight Beau had springs on his feet. He was soft, supple, and forward, giving each trot step a huge spring and each walk step lots of ground. It was heaven!Part of that was that he was just gogogo after three days of little activity. I turned him loose and he raced around the arena like a bat out hell, and fell on his arse a couple times. I freaked but he got right up and wasn't injured, if the continued racing was any indication; but he also wasn't limping or favoring anything. They must
"To make the best better"
That's the 4-H motto. I was a 4-H member for ten years, a volunteer off and on throughout the years, and a 4-H horse show judge. I value the organization and what it stands for."I pledge my head to clearer thinking,my heart to greater loyalty,my hands to larger service, and my health to better living;for my club, my community, my country and my world."Head, heart, hands, health = 4-HI never realized how much I live my life by that pledge. I guess even though I didn't understand it then, it was shaping who I would be.Those of you on my f-list are privy to the soap opera I've been enduring at
horse meme
Found this on the No Worries Club (Downunder Horsemandship) forums and thought we haven't had a meme for a while here. What breed of horse are you? Find out! It's kind of obvious when you see the patterns in the questions, but it makes sense.
