Contest to Distract You From My Procrastinating!
Yay! Winning stuff is awesome!http://www.noobie.com/kindle-giveaway?ref=1126335390Go win yerself a Kindle already! And use my link, 'cause if I generate the most entries, I automatically win a Kindle. And then we'd both have one. This would be especially nifty if you're also procrastinating on this whole writing bizness, because then if we both got our novels finished and published, we could read our books on our Kindles.I've seriously written a billion words tonight, none of them relevant to my story. Someone kick my ass!
Dum De Dum.
Who knew that all it took to get me to post in my blog again was for me to hang on to the pretense that I'm actually participating in NaNoWriMo this year?I really am. I need to update my word count--I'm still behind, but I'm at least in the five figure realm now. I've totally abandoned the idea of writing this novel in a complete linear fashion like I usually write. I've had so many scenes come to mind that I'm writing those as they come. I'll go back later and fill in the gaps. It feels like it needs to be written that way.Frigging bossy plotline. I hate it when my main characters dictate how they want to be treated. The bastards. It's a good thin
To Boldly Go
I had to write my brother a check today, and you have no idea how tempted I was to make it out to "The Dude" or "Dawg".I have a feeling that his bank would not cash such a beast. It's a shame, really. It'd be so much better if you could make out a check to whatever you wanted to call that person. Like, my payments to Xcel Energy would almost always be made out to "Thieving Bastards", and since most of the people I know agree with that characterization, the bank would have no real problem identifying who the check was really for."Oh! Thieving Bastards! That's Xcel alright. Thank you, sir, but no ID will be necessary. Please endorse this on the back.
Procrastination
I admit it, I'm a procrastinator. I will put off anything until tomorrow...laundry, vacuuming, unloading the dishwasher--anything.Which might go a long way toward establishing why National Novel Writing Month and I are not friends. It's not that I don't want to write a novel. Or a short story. Or flash fiction. Or, well, frigging SOMETHING. It's not even an issue of WANT. I have to write--you'll have to ask Eric and the midgets to verify this, but since I've been writing even the teensy bit I've been writing this month, I'm already easier to get along with. It's just that every time I sit down to a computer to write, I end up on Facebook. Or MySpace. Or a mes
Happy Halloween!
I love Halloween, don't you? It's darn near my favorite holiday. I'm not sure which I like more, Halloween or Christmas!OK, so it's Christmas. I'm all about the presents. But, candy is good, too. And free candy is even better! This year, we're all dressing up as pirates. Arrr! Admittedly, the girls' costumes are better than Eric's and mine, but it's all about the kids, right? I'm excited to have Charlotte be a little bigger this year so that she can have some fun, too! We've got about a foot and a half of snow still on the ground right now. But, that's Colorado for you--I don't remember a single Halloween when I was a kid that didn't have a costume
