Bird, bird, bird, burned is the word
Just when things were starting to slow down, a new kind of madness ensues. Babisodes is finally feeling better and back in good health.  I, on the other hand, am wiped. Not sick, but just tired. However, I am hanging in there.  I have to because Thanksgiving is kind of a big thing for us.  Besides, what could be better motivation for a pregnant woman than a full day of food and gluttony, followed by Black Friday hysteria? Are you brave enough to venture out in the wee hours after consuming pounds of tryptophan and stuffing for Black Friday sales?  I stood outside Wal-mart in 30F degrees last y
Sunnier daze
In my dream, it is bright.  My eyes squint as I lift my head off the sand and look toward my daughter.  Her fair, milky skin gleams in the afternoon sun. She runs over and sends flecks of sand sprinkling my legs. “Mommy, can we go into the ocean now?” I slowly stand and untie the sarong from my hips and gently toss my hair to shake out the sand.  This sends the little feet beside me dancing, anticipating the splashes to come. She is

I rarely use this space to get all up in arms about something. Well, maybe that one time, or the other. Whatever.  It is an unusual occurrence. While I am well aware that parents live busy lives and juggle a multitude of tasks on a daily basis, a parent’s greatest responsibility is the well being of their child(ren).  Or it should be, right? Recently for us, our greatest concern has been the cold/flu season.  Our efforts for staying healthy have reached far beyond vigilant hand washing, Purell, and cautious
Letting it fall
Every year around this time a feeling begins to stir. A tiny part of me deep inside begins to panic.  It has been this way ever since we moved to New England. Around my birthday, the world around us grows cold, and the days become shorter.  This never happened in Florida or California. Here in Massachusetts, it does. From the moment I wake, it is a race against time, a race for light.  Both of which appear to be slipping away. I know it is just part of the transition from autumn to winter.  But as the sun tucks away sooner, and as the few remaining leaves dangle above, part of me wants to hold on.  Latch onto the thin shirts hanging in my closet.  Step o
