Information

Blog Name: Motley Moose
Url: http://www.motleymoose.com/
Language: English
Topics: progressive, thought, politics
Description: Born from the ashes of the 2008 Democratic primary wars, the Moose was created by twenty-five active political bloggers, including a healthy mix of long-time Obama supporters, 'Clintonistas', centrists, and a few former Republicans. Motley Moose has grown far beyond those original 25 bloggers, becoming a 'home base' for many long time political bloggers as well as new bloggers. We have built a strong community on which the success of the blog rests, and we believe that one blog, one blogger, can make a difference…the ripple from one tossed pebble can a tsunami make. In separating ourselves from the political blog herd, we set out to build a new place to gather with clear lines of moderation that fostered a strong community promoting reasoned discourse and well-researched diaries, along with a healthy dose of snark and dry wit. We welcome and encourage diversity in opinion and discussion, and we strive for progress through political discourse rather than to see any given ideology proven correct. Like President Obama, we believe that our great nation is not divided into red states and blue states, so we choose purple as our color, representing the perfect blending of red and blue. We have found our niche in the political blog world, and we invite you to join the discussion! Motley Moose promotes Progressive values and believes that fighting for their institution will pave the way to a stronger, more united nation.

Have a Very Moosey Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, and a hearty blessing to you and your family this day. We have many things to give thanks for today- go share them with your family and friends. In the meantime, I wanted to share a short prayer with you: Almighty God, we thank you for our good fortune with full and grateful hearts. We thank you for our family and friends; we thank you for this community we've built and share. We ask your blessing this day, and to watch over us, especially in these troubling times; to keep us, our friends, our family, our country on the path to right
STFU, Sarah
Yeah, I know.  I was the one who said we needed to make sure we didn't get too fixated on the former VP candidate but...she really needs to STFU. Sarah went on Greta van Susteren's show Monday night and said... Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin on Monday accused President Barack Obama of not acknowledging the sacrifices made by the men and women in the U.S. military. "There's been a lack of acknowledgment by our president in understanding what it is that the American military provides in terms of, obviously, the safety, the security of our country," Palin said during an interview with Fox News's Greta Van Susteren. "I want him to acknowledge the sacrifi
POLL: Should taxes be levied to support wars?
With the media reporting for the eleventeenth time that Obama has, we're-totally-serious-this-time, made up his mind on what to do about Afghanistan- the question remains on how we're going to pay for it. Obviously, the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are a huge part of our current national deficit, with estimates running from 1.2 to 3 trillion dollars having been spent either directly on, or on operations associated with (such as DoD funding, research, etc). There isn't enough spending to cut to be able to address those concerns, and no politician, regardless of their poli
