In the Shoes of Karmafish; In the Sandals of Hasan
(This started out as a response to Karmafish's comment here. It expanded against my will into something too large and expansive for a comment, so I exiled it to this space. Weekend Bike Blogging: Bike Boxes I Can Believe In
In the store, or at the airport, a "bike box" is a box that is supposed to have a bike inside of it. However, at an intersection, a "bike box" is when you make a space at an intersection ahead of the "traffic stop here" line. They are often combined, as in the picture, with a "protected by paint and optimism" bike lane. In some cases for traffic lights that are tripped by stopped vehicle detectors, as in the YouTube clip below, they include a more sensitive stopped bike detectors in the bike box, so that the sensitivity of the regular vehicle detector does not have to be adjusted.

I have a question for John Boehner...
My voice is getting hoarse from yelling at the television today when the Republicans debating the Health Care Bill make statements which are patently untrue. The primary statement is one Boehner and his biddies keep making, that the majority of Americans have come out against this bill. Now where is it that this has been shown, John? The various polls for weeks have shown the majority of Americans for this reform. Especially, they have shown a strong favor of the Public Option, something you keep saying all Americans are against. But that's only the base misstatement (can I say "lie"? OK the base lie.) What about the statements that the Bill will cost us so much more in our

Good evening. I'm new to My Left Wing and looking forward to exploring. I used to use DailyKos to keep up with news and political goings-on. I didn't post much over there but enjoyed joining discussions occasionally and read the site on a daily basis. Until 48 hours ago. That's when a mysterious "warning" appeared on my account. If you can't read that. It says: " 2009-11-04 17:21:05 Do not add "Troll Diary" to the diary tags. This violates the FAQ - see Tag Guidelines - and is a bannable offense.
