Eating My Words
I should not have made the statement and then written it in my blog that I was going to try not to have any sweets all week.  I ate three iced gingerbread cookies from Trader Joe’s.  They were only 120 calories for all three, but they are still considered sweets.  The shame, oh, the shame.  Oh, well, I got over it immediately.  I was looking over my training log for the next twelve weeks.  It’s overwhelming to think that I am supposed to be running 12 miles within ten weeks.  I’m supposed to be positive, but for some reason that little voice in my head is telling me that this is very unlikely. Has anyone seen the new Kit Kat commercial?  Why do cho
Day Off
I took a day off from working out and it felt really good.  My body was just feeling really tired and my hips were  sore.  I spent the day with my family searching for a Christmas tree.  We made it out to a tree farm, which was fun.  I have never been to one before. We brought the tree home and spent a lot of time decorating it.  I ate out for lunch and dinner.  I am very excited because my husband is dieting, now.  It was so much nicer for us to both be trying to find a place to eat where we could find food that was low in calories, fat, and sodium.  I am usually the downer in that conversation.  “Where do you want to eat?  How about (insert restaurant name here
Thanksgiving Meal and A Loss
We were invited to a friend’s house for Thanksgiving.  It was really nice. We had so much fun and the food was fantastic.  We dined on homemade Mexican fare and some yummy reduced fat cheesecake, reduced fat pumpkin pie, and pecan pie.  Being with fun people and good friends reminded me that the holidays are about good times and good people; not a day to stuff yourself to the point of only wanting to nap afterwards or not being able to move. I had a good variety of food, I was satisfied, but I did not  go overboard.  That and the workouts this week have paid off because I bravely and maybe stupidly got on the scale this morning.  I lost 2 ounces.  I am just ecstatic t
Giving Thanks
This is the time of year that people are reminded to be thankful.  I think most of us are always thankful, but we just don’t verbally express it as often as we do in November and December.  I want to thank some people right now.  I want to thank each of you that take the time out of your days to read my sometimes mindless ramblings on this blog, for those of you that have left me comments giving me encouragement and inspiring me and complimenting me, for my friends that go hiking with me, walking with me, that call me to find out how my weigh in was, who tell me they are proud or that I have inspired them, for the people that ask me questions and seem to feel like I have
Making It Out Alive
There was no zumba class on the schedule, today, but I noticed the gym was offering a Turkey Burn cardio sculpt class.  Woohoo, I thought.  I had already run two miles on the treadmill and had begun to do my strength training.  The class was an hour and a half.  I thought this would be great to help me burn off those now hated cookies.  I got to the room where the class was being held.  I was feeling pumped and there weren’t many people. All of a sudden the two instructors came in and about twenty people followed.  The instructors started quickly barking out orders of what weights to get, “go get a mat, get a ball, get a step, you need heavier weights
