Mid-Week #3 + Plot Twists + More Novel Help
I’ve found that participating in late night sprints with the Official NaNoWriMo Folks on Twitter has done wonders for my word count. I can almost get my word count for the day done in a single sprint. The only bad thing is that they’re West Coasters so I have to wait until around 11:00pm before I can even participate. And on a night like tonight while I’m listening to my hubby snore, I just desperately want to go to bed myself.
Current word count: 32,593, which puts me slightly ahead of schedule at this point.
Recently I decided that it would be necessary
The Dreaded Week 2
The dreaded week 2 is almost behind us now. I’m on scheduled with my word count (24,780 and counting, nearly at the halfway point) and I am sad to say that my plot is going no where. It’s kind of frustrating really. The Week 2 doldrums really took a hit on my novel. I probably have nearly 10,000 words of sheer drivel. Most of them are these crazy flash backs that will largely be completely deleted from any type of finished manuscript that might come of this year’s noveling adventure.
I’m in the middle of being mired down in crap regarding the death of Stan and Ernie’s parents. And apparently they have an Aunt Millie who they never met. S
Your chance to influence my NaNovel, #1
Well, it’s happened. I’ve reached the first time that I’ve run into a brick wall in my plot. And I need YOUR help. You can either visit the NaNoWriMo forums (and if you’re a WriMo who’s registered you can offer your suggestions via the site. They’ll be miraculously transferred to my email box by hard working NaNoBots.) or you can offer your feedback and suggestions right here on my blog. Sadly, the only prize I have to offer is my undying gratitude and a nice line item mention my my acknowledgements.
Ok, here’s what I need:
Stan is proposing to Darla.
Day 5ish / 6ish
Daily Word Count: 2,313
Total Word Count: 11,522
It’s the end of Day 5 and the beginning of Day 6 and I’m happy to say that things are looking up in odd and unexpected ways. It’s true, Darla and Stan have virtually no backstory and I will likely scrap whatever I happened to have written for them because of its extreme level of suckitude. But Ernie has entered the story and he’s behaving quite nicely. I think that the threat that I might do evil things and cause tragic accidents to happen while he was making a fried banana sandwich was just the thing he needed to straighten out and fly righ
National (Belated) Back Up Your Novel Day
OK… so I’m a little late on this reminder post. Yesterday was “National Back Up Your Novel Day” over in NaNo-Land. Did you remember to back up your novel?
I recommend being as redundant as possible when it comes to safeguarding your prose. I personally keep a copy on an external hard drive, a copy in Box.net, a copy on EVERY hard drive of EVERY computer I own, a copy on my networked hard drive at home, a copy on my webserver (but not on the public side because that would be tempting fate), and finally I keep a copy stored on my iDrive
