Exostoses....or Surfer's Ear to you
As you can see from my previous post I've just had my ear operated on for Surfer's Ear. Otherwise known as exostoses, surfer's ear is a boney growth in the ear canal that is brought on by repeated exposure to cold water and wind. This boney growth will eventually close the ear canal and obscure the ear drum. Not only does this impair your hearing but it also leads to complications with ear infections as water and debris gets trapped behind the growth.Anyway, my surgeon at the Royal Cornwall Hospital has just e-mailed me 'before and after' internal shots of my ear. The first shows the boney growths with the grey ear drum just visible behind. The second shows the now exposed ear drum af
