Why collision photos are so important
The old adage "a picture is worth a thousand words" especially applies in auto accidents. Although doctors and lawyers know the damage to a car doesn't necessarily have much to do with the injury suffered by the occupants, the average citizen does not. They seem convinced that little visible damage translates into a very minor injury or suspect motives by the claimant. This is why pictures of both cars are very important to preserve. Car accidents often create a disproportionate amount of damage to the vehicles involved.
Why you should care about recorded statements
Time and time again people get involved in accidents and look to the other driver’s carrier to repair their damage and provide a rental car. Often the insurance company won’t agree with the body shop on the cost of repairs. Pressure is put upon the repair shop to do them for less. Used or after market parts end up being installed, often unbeknownst to the consumer. If an injury is involved, many insurance companies have policies requiring their investigators take recorded statements from the injured driver within 48 hours of the collision.
Toyota recalls 4 million cars
Toyota just issued a warning to consumers about a defective floor mat that can force down the accelerator pedal on many of their popular models. The mats have already been cited as the cause of four deaths in September of 2009 when an off duty California state trooper and three family members were involved in a fatal collision in the San Diego area while driving a 2009 Lexus ES350. A 911 tape from just before the crash recorded one of the passengers in the vehicle as saying the accelerator was stuck and the car was reaching 120 miles per hour.
Oregon seatbelt law
Everyone knows the importance of wearing a seatbelt. The device can help prevent ejection from a vehicle in a roll over. It can also prevent an occupant from being thrown into the dashboard. So what if a person is not exercising good judgment and fails to buckle up? Well, for one thing it can mean a ticket. It can also mean you lose part of your rights to recover damages if injured in an accident.
